BlogDA is like a memory box for me, I like to stop in every so often, open the box and reminisce...
This icon on my page happened to catch my eye
It belongs to Becca, one of the many fascinating people I met while painting avatars back in the old Excite Virtual Places chat program. I went to her page, she hasn't been here for years. I followed the link she left there to her Live Journal. She hasn't been there since 2007 (the fact that it is a LJ page and not Facebook or Google+ in and of itself illustrates how much time has passed...).
I'm really bad at keeping track of people, it's not because I don't care, I do but I have time perception issues. I get caught up in Shelleyland with all the shit I have to do and lose track of the world around me. Ever seen movies where they portray the crazy artist type as a shut in that never eats or showers and has no clue as to what day it is? Yeah - that's me. OK well I do eat and shower because I think my husband would kick me out if I didn't, but I get tunnel vision easily and when I finally pull back to look at the world as a whole, weeks, months, years have slipped by taking with them the people I failed to stay in contact with. Ask my close friends who live nearby who see me maybe once a quarter, and then only because they have the ability to come by and physically drag me out of my cave... But I digress.
Point is, I made a lot of good friends back in the day of Excite's Virtual Places (lovingly known to may as simply VP). I met me husband there and one of my best friends outside the virtual world. There are a few here at DA that stop by and say hi form time to time (which I truly appreciate - even though I know I suck and reciprocation), but there are a lot I miss that I have no idea how to track down anymore. For that I am terribly sorry.
So - how many of you are from Excite's VP? Do you keep in contact with others from there still?
