I have started writing again, not sure where that will end up but I have always dreamed of completing a novel and figure at 46 I should hop to it... My mother has been quite ill for a while and it has added a sense of urgency to getting my arse moving. The urgency is two-fold, first, I realize how fragile life is and it brings into question the time line of my own demise. Secondly, in the fantasy world where my writing is actually good and I can find and agent and ultimately a publisher, I would my mother to be alive. She herself is a great writer and shared the dream of being published with me - she just never went after it. I am doing this for both of us I suppose.

I posted a slice of the story - it is a very rough draft and actually takes place in the second or third chapter. I tend not to see the story as a whole, it comes to me in waves and that is how I will write it - I learned long ago not to fuck with muses

If you choose to read it I would greatly appreciate any comments you have - honesty is a good thing - pumping sunshine does me no good in the long term. If you hate it then say so but please say why, if you love it say so but say why.
